CEO Coming From Rags to Riches

By Vanessa Ford

R.I.P Steve Jobs :

Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Lloyd Blankfein, John Paul Dejoria and Sheldon Adelson are most famous CEOs whose wins triumph over desperate backgrounds that you may not know.

Oprah Winfrey, Harpo Productions
The Oprah Winfrey Show is not only one of the world’s most popular television show but also has magic power that could turn a struggling company into a commercial phenomenon after a single appearance on the show. Oprah Winfrey, the most popular talk-show host of the highest-rated daytime talk show in TV history, is without any competitors in this vast media empire. Even, Winfrey was named the richest African-American in Forbes magazine 2009 and ninth most influential U.S. liberal in the Telegraph 2007. However, her dominant position in the world is totally in contract with her upbringing. Oprah Winfrey was born in a poor family to an unwed teenaged mother in Mississippi. When moving to Tennessee during high school, she took a job in radio and then was chosen for the evening news.

Steve Jobs, Apple

The current chairman and CEO of Apple Steve Jobs was once dismissed by the company when it encountered a slump in sales. Earlier, he attended and later dropped from Reed College in Portland, Oregon just after one semester. He lived by collecting discarded soda cans, sleeping on friends’ living room floors and receiving free hot meals at a Hare Krishna temple.
