On January 10, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney took a major step toward winning the Republican Party’s president race with a convincing victory in the New Hampshire primary. Romney easily defeated five Republican rivals one week after a narrow win in the Iowa caucuses and appears to be a strong favorite to be the Republican challenger against President Barack Obama in the November election.
Mitt Romney celebrated his victory with his family and supporters and said “Thank you New Hampshire. Tonight, we made history”. He is the first person who wins the two first contests of presidential nomination, the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary.

In his victory speech, Romney focused less on his Republican rivals abut aimed at President Barrack Obama: “We know that the future of this country is better than 8 or 9 percent unemployment. It is better than $15 trillion in debt. It is better than the misguided policies and broken promises of the last three years - and the failed leadership of one man”
Mitt Romney still trailed President Obama by 5 percentage points in the White House race but was catching up.

The next round of presidential election is South Carolina primary which will be held in January 21.
