A terrible train crash in Argentina has killed at least 49 people and left 460 others injured when a packed train slammed into the end of the line in Buenos Aires' busy Once station Wednesday's morning rush hour, 22 February 2012. This is the Argentina's worst rail accident in more than 30 years and second-worst train accident in the history. Officials suspect that faulty brakes led to the terrible crash.

Authorities confirmed 49 people, among them a child were dead and other 600 were more injured after a commuter train was derailed at a station during the morning rush-hour in Buenos Aires. Several hundreds are being treated at hospitals in the capital among them dozens were in a serious condition
Hours after the terrible crash, rescuers and firefighters are still working to free trapped passengers from the wreckage of the front carriages. While emergency services struggle to rescue people, the cries of survivors could be heard from within the twisted metal
The conductor, who is relatively young at 28, was injured but rescue workers pried him loose from the wreckage of his cabin and apparently well-rested

With more than 800 passengers on the train when crashing and speed of 20km/h, the front carriages of the train were squashed badly. The transportation minister added, “The accident is very serious. There are carriages on top of carriages” and “There are people trapped alive in the wagons, some with complex cases of chest trauma”
Transportation Secretary JP Schiavi reported that the dead include 48 adults and one child, some 600 people were injured, including 461 who were hospitalised
Argentine President Cristina Kirchner has cancelled a news conference on the dispute with Britain over the Falkland Islands following news of the crash. The accident was described, “Cars piled up on top of each other and one them went six metres inside another car”
A firefighter, saying “Inside the first car there was a human wall”, compared the accident to the scene to that at a 1994 disco fire in which 194 people died heaped inside
